Review: Folly by DJ Blackmore

I was given this book in return for an honest review.

Okay, now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let me say, I read and enjoyed “Folly” by DJ Blackmore despite the fact I would not have picked up the book on my own. For me, a book about a set of colonists in Australia without some kind of magic system just doesn’t push my usual buttons. I range significantly further afield.

Still I found myself drawn into the plight of Tobias, the freed convict, and Emma, a young woman who has been somewhat put upon by fate. They want nothing more than to be married to one another and live their happily ever after; however, things keep intervening.

I won’t go into what those things are, but suffice to say Blackmore’s writing style kept the problems engaging without making them overwrought and I would be pleased to pick up another book by this same author.
