Another Nanowrimo Down

Today I typed 6,000 words to finish Nanowrimo on day 21. Did I need to? No. Did I want to? Yes. I wanted to finish because I wanted to prove to myself, yet again, that I could write more than 50K in 30 days. I have lollygagged until the last day before, spreading 50K over an entire month as though I don’t necessarily write faster than that, but I wanted to get back in the groove.

For that reason, I typed like a little demon was coming out of my fingers onto the keyboard and got 6,000 words done in a day. My other great day was 10k which I can still make today if I have time after my day job. As it stands, if I don’t work on this anymore, I have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that I can write my way through 50K without a whole lot of problem.

Some of you may wonder what my personal/professional life has been like to allow me to get in 6k on one day while still going to work. I woke up at 2:30 this morning and wrote between 3 and 4. Then I went to the gym, walked with my Mom, and went to work. After work, I started typing about 10am. Between 10am and 12:20, I wrote almost 5k. I didn’t have to go back to work until 2, so I putzed around on the internet and celebrated my win on Facebook. Is the book finished? No, but I will probably finish it before the end of the month. This being a sequel, the previous book came in at about 60K, so that’s what I’m shooting for. I figure another couple of days and it will be finished. As of right now, it’s looking like there will be a book three. When will I start that? Dunno. I have a lot of things vying for time and attention in my brain. I may finish doing a pass at the first book and send it to a publisher, but I guess we’ll see.

As it stands, another Nanowrimo down.
