Silver Lining: Corona/Covid-19 Quarantine

The city of Savannah shut down tourism a week ago. That means all my jobs are currently on lockdown. Today, our mayor, Van Johnson, issued a shelter in place order for the entire city. Unnecessary travel has been officially curtailed. That means I’m not going to be getting out much over the next few days (possibly a week or more). In the meantime, I could be leveling up a Guild Wars 2 character. However, I’ve chosen to see something of a silver lining in all of this: .I’m a full-time author for the first time in my life.

I’ve always wanted to be a full-time author. I’ve worked on my writing career for years with some success. Not like battering down the door of millionaire status success, but some success. I’ve managed several things I never thought I would such as being a professional speaker at DragonCon or selling a book to a publisher. I’m amazed at what I’ve been able to accomplish in spite of having, sometimes, several jobs

So even though Covid-19 scares the bejesus out of me as one of those who have respiratory issues, I’m choosing to see the silver lining in that this allows me to create my own schedule and in that to simply CREATE. I don’t take much time off. Bills don’t allow it all that often. So during this enforced down time, I’m going to set myself a schedule to write, promote, and otherwise work on my authorial career. I hope you will support me in this.
Have you seen any silver linings in all this mess that’s going on? If so, leave it in the comments. I think we need to remember the good happening around us as much as we need to be wary of the danger.

    That’s an awesome silver lining!

I’m trying to do similar things and I find that I have to put everything into a schedule and really be rigorous with myself about keeping to it.
